“Giving love and security to provide children with roots and wings”
Love SHACK (love for Sick, Homeless and Abandoned Children in Kenya) is a children’s project with grassroots in the heart of Kawangware slum in Nairobi. The project has been set up by a registered nurse and opened it’s doors on June 6th 2004.
The love SHACK is home to five teenage boys, two girls, a four year old, a dog, a cat, three kittens and a constant flow of visitors from the 128 children and their families who are supported by love SHACK in the surrounding community.
The project has many facets:
- Support children whose family structures are under strain.
- Provides a safe environment to children who are at risk through illness, abuse and neglect.
- Channel resources to sick children and their families.
- Enable children, through good education and appropriate councelling, to reach their full potential.
As the project works at the grass roots level a need has been identified to build a boarding school for 150 of the poorest children in Kenya.
Give4Strips aim to help these children, by providing them, and others in Kenya, football shirts, giving them a sense of belonging and unity.
